Job description

Role overview

In this position, you will help Tesla keep its commitments on production, payments, and customer refunds across its expanding solar and energy storage portfolio. The role sits at the center of customer operations and product performance, helping ensure the fleet runs smoothly and issues are handled promptly.

Tesla receives substantial operational data from solar and storage assets every day. Your main focus will be to inspect this information, identify anomalies, and take action. That includes reviewing alerts and reports, diagnosing field issues, investigating monitoring-data mismatches, launching repair workflows when needed, and handling customer performance guarantees. This role suits someone who is comfortable with reporting, data processing, and systematically solving problems.

Key responsibilities

  • Examine data to identify malfunctioning equipment and monitoring issues across solar and storage systems.
  • Review the financial terms and obligations tied to Tesla’s performance guarantees.
  • Build reports, presentations, and charts that summarize performance, issue status, and case history.
  • Investigate differences in historical records and energy-model outputs, then explain the causes.
  • Assess issues at single sites and across the portfolio, then develop and execute corrective action plans.
  • Help define, improve, and roll out operating procedures and protocols.
  • Work on assigned projects and collaborate with others to move them forward.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a similar background through equivalent experience.
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret data, along with solid quantitative skills.
  • Experience handling and evaluating large datasets.
  • Good command of Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet tools; a test may be included during the interview.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, especially for procedures and instructions.
  • Basic understanding of electricity concepts such as AC/DC, current, voltage, resistance, and the difference between power and energy.
  • General familiarity with solar production estimation.

Compensation and benefits

This is a full-time role with competitive pay. As a Tesla employee, you are eligible for benefits starting on day 1 of employment.

  • Medical plans, including options with $0 payroll deduction.
  • Family-building, fertility, adoption, and surrogacy support.
  • Dental coverage, including orthodontics, and vision plans, both with options for $0 paycheck contribution.
  • Company HSA contribution when enrolled in the high-deductible medical plan with HSA.
  • Healthcare and dependent care FSAs.
  • 401(k) with employer match, employee stock purchase plans, and other financial benefits.
  • Company-paid basic life and AD&D coverage.
  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance, with a 90-day waiting period.
  • Employee assistance program.

  • Optional benefits such as critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft and legal services, and pet insurance.
  • Weight loss and tobacco cessation programs.
  • Tesla Babies program.
  • Commuter benefits.
