Job description

Role overview

The Endoscopy Unit at Chelsea Site is JAG accredited and offers a supportive, collaborative, and forward-thinking workplace. The unit delivers both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy across four modern, well-equipped procedure rooms, and operates seven days a week, including out-of-hours cover for the Gastroenterology team managing upper gastrointestinal bleeds.

What the post involves

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide safe, high-quality nursing care for patients before, during, and after endoscopy procedures. This includes pre-assessment, assistance in procedure rooms, recovery, and discharge. Training and support will be provided to help you build advanced endoscopy competencies.

Key duties

  • Deliver clinically sound nursing care in line with Trust values, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Take on delegated tasks and areas of responsibility from the senior nurse in charge.
  • Follow Trust policies, objectives, protocols, and local guidance while contributing to team support and maintaining NMC compliance.
  • Provide consistently high standards of care to patients and carers, both independently and as part of the wider team.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, carers, and colleagues at all times.
  • Continue developing general and specialist nursing capabilities through practice and learning opportunities.
  • Maintain strong professional, ethical, and medico-legal standards of accountability.
  • Support the Endoscopy team, including out-of-hours assistance to the Gastroenterology service for gastrointestinal bleeding cases.

Candidate profile

The Trust is seeking a motivated, confident, enthusiastic nurse with strong communication skills who can thrive in a busy, fast-moving clinical environment. Substantial post-qualification experience in endoscopy or post-anaesthetic care recovery is required.
