Role overview
As an Employment Consultant, you will work alongside a Rehabilitation Consultant or Vocational Consultant to help people recovering from injury or illness secure suitable employment. The position is based in Sydney or Miranda, NSW, and involves direct employer engagement, program promotion, and support for injured workers returning to the workforce.
Key duties
- Reach out by phone to locate host employers who can accommodate injured workers through SIRA programs, either on a volunteer or employee basis.
- Promote SIRA initiatives and any associated incentives to employers and stakeholders.
- Prepare SIRA program documents and retraining applications for review and approval by agents.
- Build and maintain a network of employers willing to host candidates, including an employer database.
- Travel to different locations within client areas to strengthen relationships with host employers and grow the placement network.
- Deliver job-readiness training and create supporting resources for injured workers seeking new work.
- Work toward placement targets within required timelines, such as placing a client into a work trial within six weeks of referral.
- Collaborate with the Head of New Employer Services to develop tools and resources that support the role and broader service expansion nationally.
Requirements
- Comfort and skill in telephone-based communication, plus solid sales and marketing capability.
- At least 6 months of experience in call or sales roles with a history of meeting KPIs.
- A persistent, resilient approach and the ability to keep driving toward results in difficult situations.
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle.
- Strong interpersonal abilities and an engaging personality that helps build rapport quickly.
- Knowledge of the NSW Workers’ Compensation scheme is helpful but not essential.
