Position Overview

The Employee Trainer focused on New Hire Onboarding & Culture Development plays a vital role in aligning onboarding initiatives with DLB's organizational mission and departmental goals within the Design Department. This hybrid role is primarily based at the DLB-LAB located in Bell Works, Holmdel, NJ, with remote work on non-training days.

This individual facilitates engaging multi-day orientation sessions, fosters a community among cohorts of new hires, serves as an ongoing resource throughout the first year of employment, and bridges departmental onboarding with corporate training programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead interactive, in-person orientation sessions presenting company culture, values, operational norms, and communication standards to new employee cohorts.
  • Manage logistical planning including scheduling, room preparation, AV setup, and coordination of presenters.
  • Create and supervise virtual communication platforms to build lasting peer connections among orientation groups.
  • Conduct regular individual check-ins with new hires throughout their initial year to provide support and identify concerns early.
  • Track onboarding attendance and completion, maintain accurate records, and update leadership regularly.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and leadership to continuously update and refine orientation content, reflecting the latest company tools and expectations.
  • Support development and administration of additional training programs like the DLB Boot Camp for entry-level employees and interns.
  • Coordinate interaction between departmental onboarding and company-wide training efforts to streamline learning and minimize redundancies.
  • Maintain the yearly orientation schedule and assist in managing all required logistics and communications.
  • Adhere to organizational standards for timely and budget-conscious completion of training initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven expertise in group training facilitation, classroom management, and adult education concepts; prior experience in professional training strongly preferred.
  • Dynamic presenter capable of engaging diverse audiences with confidence and adaptability.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to forge meaningful connections and create welcoming environments for new employees.
  • Strong organizational abilities to effectively juggle multiple onboarding cohorts and associated administrative tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and PowerPoint for scheduling, communication, and content delivery.
  • Ability to authentically embody and convey DLB’s culture, values, and operational language.
  • Instructional design knowledge to partner effectively with content experts in updating training materials.
  • Detail-oriented tracking and reporting skills for onboarding activities and outcomes.
  • Initiative-driven and capable of independently managing daily responsibilities with appropriate escalation for major decisions.
  • Clear and professional communication skills for liaising with new hires, managers, and leadership.

Physical and Travel Requirements

  • Primarily stationary during tasks but required to move around office and training facilities frequently.
  • Occasionally handle equipment weights up to 25 pounds.
  • This hybrid position requires on-site presence mostly, with remote work allowed on days without training responsibilities.
  • Travel to other DLB offices or training sites may occasionally be needed.
  • Candidates must have valid REAL ID or acceptable alternative for domestic air travel aligned with federal guidelines.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or a related discipline;
  • OR Associate degree plus equivalent professional experience in training, adult education, or people development.
  • Two to five years’ experience in corporate training, onboarding, or adult learning, including live group facilitation.
  • Technical or corporate environment experience, particularly in engineering or mission-critical sectors, is advantageous but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $78,000 to $105,000 annually.
  • Medical plans including PPO options and high deductible plan with HSA.
  • Dental, vision, and flex spending accounts with spouse and dependent coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching and brokerage options.
  • Paid time off including extra leave during the end of the year.
  • Company-paid life insurance and disability coverage.
  • Professional development support including tuition reimbursement and licensing help.
  • Paid parental leave after one year of employment.
