About the Role
Twyford International Uganda is looking for a proactive and experienced Employee Relations Specialist to help build and expand manufacturing operations in Kapeeka, Uganda. This role sits within the Human Resources function and focuses on maintaining healthy workplace relationships, ensuring adherence to Uganda labor laws, handling disciplinary matters, safeguarding personnel records, and acting as a connector between employees, management, and relevant regulatory authorities.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations Management
- Address workplace concerns and employee relations issues in a fair, professional, and policy-compliant manner.
- Support supervisors and managers with guidance on employee conduct and relation matters.
- Help strengthen employee engagement and a constructive workplace culture.
Disciplinary and Grievance Management
- Organize and support disciplinary hearings and grievance investigations.
- Draft and issue formal disciplinary documents such as show-cause notices, warning letters, suspension notices, termination letters, dismissal letters, and separation notices.
- Make sure all disciplinary actions align with Uganda labor law and company procedures.
- Keep complete and accurate records of grievances and disciplinary cases.
Compliance and External Relations
- Coordinate with government offices and regulatory bodies, including labor authorities, social security organizations, and health insurance institutions.
- Support compliance with legal employment obligations and statutory requirements.
- Assist during labor inspections, compliance audits, and review exercises.
Personnel Records Management
- Maintain employee files and HR records so they remain accurate and current.
- Ensure records are stored and handled properly with confidentiality and data accuracy.
- Track employee documentation and assist with HR reporting needs.
HR Administration Support
- Help implement HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Support the onboarding and exit processes for employees.
- Prepare regular reports on employee relations activities.
- Carry out other duties assigned by the Human Resource Manager or HR Business Partner.
Key Performance Indicators
- Accuracy and quality of employee relations documents.
- Speed of resolving employee relations and disciplinary matters.
- Compliance with labor laws and internal policies.
- Effectiveness in managing personnel records.
- Quality and timeliness of reporting and feedback.
- Professional conduct and a positive work approach.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Law, or a similar field is required.
- At least 3 years of experience in Employee Relations, Human Resources, or Industrial Relations, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Good understanding of the Uganda Employment Act and related labor regulations.
- Hands-on experience with disciplinary procedures, grievance handling, and employee engagement activities.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Strong sense of integrity and discretion.
- Good organization and record-management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and manage several priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This is an on-site role based at Kapeeka Industrial Park, Nakaseke District, Uganda, in the Central Region.
