About the Company and Position
Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L), headquartered at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, Kolwezi city, operates approximately 42 km from Kolwezi in Lualaba province, Democratic Republic of Congo. MUMI is inviting applications for the role of "Employee & Industrial Relations Superintendent." This permanent management-level position has one vacancy and the application deadline is August 17, 2026.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Human Resources Services & Administration Manager, the appointed superintendent will be responsible for nurturing equitable and legally compliant industrial relations and employee interactions. This role demands oversight of labor relations, employee disputes, disciplinary procedures, and adherence to regulatory mandates. The objective is to facilitate a respectful, productive, and complaint workplace environment while enabling safe, sustainable mining operations through proactive conflict management and compliance with labor laws and company standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Social Sciences, Industrial Psychology, Law, Business Management/Administration, or similar field is required.
- At least 7 years of demonstrated experience in employee or industrial relations, human resources, or a related field.
- Experience in mining, industrial, or heavy industries is considered an advantage.
- Comprehensive understanding of employment laws, collective bargaining, disciplinary handling, and labor relations.
- Prior exposure to unionized, operational, and multicultural settings.

- Proven capabilities in conflict resolution, employee mediation, and grievance management.
- Effective stakeholder engagement and relationship development.

- Competence in project and change management techniques.
- Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and facilitation talents.
- Problem-solving and decisive judgment capacity.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Full fluency in English and French languages.
Primary Duties
- Serve as the specialist contact for all employee and labor relations inquiries, offering expert advice.
- Build and nurture collaborative relations with employee groups and unions to maintain harmony.
- Organize union elections, statutory and consultative meetings, and verify execution of decisions.
- Lead negotiations, reviews, and enforcement of Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Mediate disputes and grievances effectively, ensuring procedural compliance.
- Ensure adherence to local labor laws, company policies, and Glencore standards.
- Facilitate internal and government audits ensuring corrective measures are followed.
- Manage disciplinary actions for employees up to superintendent level, assuring fairness and compliance.
- Advise and coach managers on employee relations and labor law compliance matters.
- Track employee relations data and provide timely management reporting and recommendations.
- Develop and maintain data systems supporting employee relations analyses and decisions.
- Partner with Learning & Development to conduct employee relations and labor law training.
- Promote employee welfare, respect in the workplace, and engagement initiatives.
- Incorporate Health, Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability principles into workplace relations.
- Ensure alignment with environmental policies and standards set by MUMI and Glencore.
