Role Overview
The EMEA FinOps Lead will spearhead the establishment and growth of the Financial Operations (FinOps) function for cloud and AI-related technologies across the EMEA region within the Technology division. This position ensures oversight, transparency, and optimization of technology expenditure, aligning spending with strategic business goals.
As the adoption of cloud platforms, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, and AI-driven solutions rapidly increases, this role acts as the central point for Cloud and AI FinOps within the region, collaborating closely with Technology Finance, Engineering, Product, and Global FinOps teams to uphold financial responsibility and drive efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and mature EMEA’s Cloud FinOps capabilities and governance structures.
- Enhance visibility and insight into Azure and cloud consumption across Technology teams.
- Lead cloud cost optimization programs and identify efficiency gains.
- Support forecasting and consumption trend analysis for cloud services.
- Promote cloud spending accountability among technology teams.
- Create governance and reporting frameworks for AI technology usage.
- Monitor usage and cost patterns for GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, and AI platforms.
- Drive transparency and innovative AI FinOps practices in partnership with global teams.
- Develop executive dashboards and reports showing cloud and AI usage and costs.
- Support budgeting, planning, and forecasting of cloud and AI expenditures.
- Identify drivers of consumption and opportunities to optimize spend.
- Define and track metrics that quantify business value from cloud and AI investments.
- Measure realization of cloud cost savings and AI productivity improvements.
- Deliver data-backed recommendations to maximize technology consumption value.
- Forge strong partnerships with Technology Finance, Product, Engineering, and Operations units.
- Represent EMEA in global communities focused on FinOps, Cloud Economics, and AI FinOps.
- Influence adoption of cost-conscious practices and spending optimizations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Technology, Business, Engineering, Information Systems, or relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Technology Financial Management, FinOps, Cloud Economics, Finance, or related areas.
- Proven expertise in managing cloud costs, technology consumption analytics, budgeting, forecasting, or financial analysis.
- Strong analytical aptitude with ability to convert complex datasets into actionable business insights.
- Experience creating executive-level dashboards, scorecards, and management reporting tools.
- Familiarity with cloud consumption models, especially Microsoft Azure.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influence skills spanning technology, finance, and business stakeholders.
- Clear and effective communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
- Adept at operating within complex, matrixed, and geographically distributed organizations.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
- Certification from the FinOps Foundation or significant equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Cost Management, Power BI, Apptio, or similar financial reporting tools.
- Knowledge of AI consumption reporting including platforms like Microsoft Copilot and GitHub Copilot.
- Understanding of cost allocation methodologies, financial governance, and chargeback/showback models.
- Track record of identifying and implementing cloud cost optimization measures.
- Familiarity with technology investment value realization and ROI measurement frameworks.
- Experience working in the financial services sector or other highly regulated environments.
