Role Overview

This opportunity is for a proactive Environmental Health & Safety specialist to help maintain a safe, compliant, and high-performing site in a busy operational setting in Athenry, County Galway. The position centers on meeting legal and ISO-based requirements, advancing EHS programs, supporting risk reduction efforts, delivering training, and strengthening the site’s safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and manage procedures such as risk assessments and safety-related training and protocols to meet health, safety, and corporate EHSS obligations.
• Support the upkeep and development of environmental management systems aligned with ISO standards.
• Carry out risk assessments and put practical hazard control measures in place, including engineering-based solutions where appropriate.
• Provide everyday EHS guidance and support across site operations.
• Assist with programs related to chemical safety, ergonomics, and waste management.
• Take part in incident and near-miss reviews, determine underlying causes, and help implement corrective actions.
• Perform inspections and audits, and monitor performance data to support continuous improvement.
• Deliver EHS training and help build a strong environmental and safety culture.
• Work with teams across functions to ensure EHS considerations are built into operations and projects.
