Role overview

This is a permanent, full-time Day Operative position based at the Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre in St Dennis, Cornwall. The standard working pattern is 37.5 hours per week, with 7.5-hour shifts scheduled between 6:30am and 6:15pm across five days. The local rota includes one Saturday in every five. The employer may also consider part-time applicants, provided the preferred hours are clearly stated in the application.

The salary for this role is £28,673 per year. Interviews are planned to begin from 7 July. The closing date for applications is 02/07/2026, although the vacancy may be closed earlier if enough suitable candidates are received.

What you will do

  • Support the site by supervising waste deliveries as they arrive.
  • Operate mobile plant equipment as part of daily site activity.
  • Carry out overhead gantry crane operations when needed.
  • Handle other routine duties required to keep the operation running smoothly.

Experience and skills needed

Applicants should ideally have experience in a relevant industrial setting. A suitable mobile plant qualification is preferred, although training can be provided. The successful candidate must also be comfortable using computers and standard software such as Word and Excel. A valid driving licence is required for this position.
