About East Kimberley College
East Kimberley College (EKC) is a comprehensive Kindergarten to Year 12 institution dedicated to fostering an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment that nurtures the development of every student as a successful future citizen. With an enrolment of about 1000 students, nearly half of whom are Indigenous, EKC stands as one of the largest and culturally diverse schools in Western Australia, combining resources typical of metropolitan schools with the close community feel of a rural setting.
Role Overview
We are establishing a panel of Mainstream Education Assistants to fill permanent and fixed-term full-time and part-time roles that may arise from 2026 through Term 3, 2027. Employees in this position will be tasked with aiding in the execution of educational programs, supporting individual students or small groups, and promoting student well-being in cooperation with teaching staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting delivery of planned education programs in a classroom setting.
- Engaging collaboratively within a team to assist student learning and provide support.
- Applying effective written and verbal communication for liaising with students, parents, and educators.
- Organising and preparing the learning environment and maintaining teaching resources and equipment.
- Supporting general health and well-being of students under supervision.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication abilities, both written and oral, to facilitate educational support and interaction.
- Capacity to use initiative in maintaining learning environment and resources.
- Eligibility to work in Australia, including valid Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or appropriate work visa.
- Must obtain a current Working With Children Check prior to commencement.
- Consent to and obtain clearance from a National Criminal History Check through the Department of Education Screening Unit.
