Position Summary

The Education Action Officer supports JPME program management within JS J-7 by handling taskers and accreditation-related actions across the Joint Staff. This on-site role at the Pentagon provides project support, helps maintain momentum across JPME workflows, councils, and working groups, and contributes subject-matter knowledge of the JPME accreditation process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver on-site support for JPME projects and taskers, including monitoring and reporting responses.
  • Oversee workflow coordination and standard operating procedures for the JPME Branch.
  • Assist with the semi-annual Military Education Coordination Council (MECC) and Joint Leader Development Council (JLDC) working groups.
  • Facilitate conferences, working sessions, and project meetings.
  • Support senior leaders, including the CJCS, through policy briefs and position papers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A master’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated capability in seven or more of the following areas: strong knowledge of the JPME accreditation process; prior joint force and service PME experience with staff procedures; field-grade or higher experience, or civilian equivalent, within the Joint Staff or a similar environment; understanding of Joint Staff structure and organizational relationships; knowledge of joint and combined staff organization, functions, and procedures; ability to facilitate conferences, working groups, and project meetings; experience supporting major programs and senior leaders; and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Active TS security clearance, as specified by the staffing plan.

Preferred Background

  • Experience with joint force and service PME as well as staff procedures.
  • Previous field-grade assignment on a Joint Staff or a Service headquarters.
