Job description

Overview

Ohio Magazine’s Great Lakes Content Studio is looking for editorial interns to join the team. This opportunity is aimed at students moving into their junior or senior year, ideally majoring in journalism, communications, or English. Recent graduates may also be considered.

Work Arrangement

The role is fully remote and unpaid. Candidates need to either know Ohio well or live in the state. The expected commitment is 8 to 10 hours per week, and the schedule is flexible. Internships are available during the summer, fall, and spring semesters.

Responsibilities

The internship involves editorial support work such as writing, editing, fact-checking, and research. The team wants the position to offer meaningful professional development. Interns may also sit in on editorial meetings and gain exposure to assigning content and coordinating freelance writers.

Qualifications

Applicants should have strong attention to detail and solid writing ability, along with familiarity with AP style, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and phone communication. A dependable work ethic, punctuality, and reliability are also important. Candidates must know Ohio well.

Application Process

To be considered, candidates should share a cover letter, a resume, and 3 to 4 published clips or writing samples that show journalistic writing style.
