Job description

About the role

Musa Ventures is developing the infrastructure that enables African SMEs to connect with the most suitable sources of capital. The team is seeking a delivery-oriented East Africa Venture Pipeline Lead to oversee sourcing, founder onboarding, partner coordination, and financier readiness across its East African network.

This is a practical, in-person position based in Nairobi. You will collaborate with accelerators, incubators, channel partners, founders, and financiers to make sure promising ventures are properly screened, documented, and prepared to engage with capital providers.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and grow relationships with ecosystem partners and channel partners involved in venture sourcing.
  • Spot, assess, and qualify promising SMEs for inclusion on Musa’s platform.
  • Lead founder onboarding, collect required documents, and follow up to keep progress moving.
  • Move ventures efficiently from nomination through to financier-ready profiles.
  • Monitor pipeline stage, identify blockers, and incorporate feedback from financiers.
  • Help design and refine scalable sourcing and onboarding workflows across East Africa.
  • With time, assist in guiding and overseeing junior scouts and coordinators.

What the team is looking for

The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years of experience in venture, SME, lending, accelerator, incubator, or entrepreneurship ecosystem roles. You should be confident in managing relationships with founders and partners, and comfortable working with business paperwork and basic financial details.

Strong organisation, persistence, and the ability to follow up consistently without damaging trust are important. The role is based in Nairobi, or you should be open to relocating there. Additional experience in blended finance, venture debt, climate, agriculture, manufacturing, DFI programmes, or East Africa/Tanzania expansion will be an added advantage.

Compensation

This position offers a base salary along with performance-linked upside tied to venture onboarding, pipeline conversion, and capital mobilisation outcomes.
