Role Overview

Kepler Academy is hiring Level 1 Early Childhood Educators for its Sherwood Park centre in Alberta. This is a full-time, on-site position focused on supporting children’s development in a safe, engaging, and nurturing childcare environment.

Job Summary

In this role, you will help children grow intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally while supporting their safety and day-to-day well-being. The position includes working with children from infant care through out-of-school care.

Key Duties

• Create and deliver childcare activities and routines that encourage physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
• Engage children through stories, songs, games, outings, art, imaginative play, music, and movement.
• Maintain a clean, secure, and healthy classroom environment.
• Observe children’s interests, strengths, and needs, and share progress or concerns with parents and colleagues.
• Watch for signs of learning or behavioural challenges and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors when needed.
• Support children in learning routines such as eating, dressing, and toileting.
• Build positive working relationships with coworkers and community agencies involved in child services.
• Help organize before- and after-school activities for school-age children when required.
• Assist with supervising and coordinating other educators or educator assistants when needed.
• Handle classroom upkeep and light cleaning tasks.
• Perform diaper changes and assist with handwashing and hygiene routines.

• Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in different weather conditions.

Required Qualifications

• Alberta Child Development Certificate at Level 1, 2, or 3.
• Valid Standard Child Care / Level C First Aid certification.
• Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check issued within the last 6 months.
• Prior childcare experience is an advantage.
• Understanding of child development principles and early childhood education best practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work well with a diverse team of childcare professionals.
