Role overview
The British International School Abu Dhabi is looking for a Student Support Assistant to join its EAL team. This position sits within a collaborative and well-established support team in a thriving, expanding school, and reports to the EAL Coordinator and Head of Inclusion.
Key duties
The postholder will support learners who use English as an additional language, helping them make progress both academically and in their wellbeing. The role includes working alongside class teachers and EAL leaders to provide tailored support that meets individual needs.
- Deliver support to individual students and small groups.
- Adapt learning materials and strategies to suit learner needs.
- Track student progress and maintain clear, accurate records.
- Contribute to Individual EAL Plans and other support programmes.
- Build positive working relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
- Encourage confidence, independence, and effective communication.
- Take part in team meetings and wider school collaboration.
- Help strengthen the connection between home and school.
Language requirements
Candidates must speak English fluently. Knowing an additional language is considered an advantage.
