Role overview

Dorset Police is looking for a Duties Officer to join the duties team at Police Headquarters in Winfrith, Dorset. The post is permanent and is responsible for helping plan, forecast, and monitor duty cover so that the relevant business area is staffed and policed efficiently and in line with Police Regulations, the Police Staff Council Handbook, and other applicable guidance.

Pay and employment details

The salary starts at £27,204 per year and increases annually by increments up to £34,662 per year. The package also includes excellent benefits and a government pension. This is a permanent role. The closing date for applications is 03/07/2026 at 12:00.

Working pattern and location

The standard working week is 37 hours. Applications from people seeking part-time hours are welcome, and flexible working patterns can be considered depending on operational requirements. Initial training must be completed at Force HQ in Winfrith from Monday to Friday, five days each week. After training, the role currently operates on a hybrid basis, with three days in the office and two days working from home or another suitable location.

Key purpose of the role

The successful candidate will support the duties management function by making sure duty arrangements are planned and monitored effectively, while helping the force deliver service coverage in the most cost-efficient way.
