Driver I

Overview

Join Alberta Health Services, Canada's largest healthcare provider, as a Driver I responsible for delivering a variety of items including mail, packages, medical supplies, equipment, food, and linens while adhering to established standards, regulations, and policies. You'll service multiple Calgary Acute Site Hospitals and healthcare centers spanning over 20 transportation routes, playing a key role in an integrated provincial supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

• Transport a diverse range of products safely and promptly following scheduled routes and occasional ad hoc requests.
• Conduct vehicle inspections before and after shifts, report defects or malfunctions to management, and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
• Record mileage and ensure all transport activities comply with Alberta Health Services policies.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent education.
• Valid Class 5 Alberta Operator's License and a Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certificate.
• Knowledge of city roadways and three years' experience driving 3 to 5-ton vehicles.
• Accident-free driving record for at least 2 years with no more than three demerit points.
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as lifting objects up to 40 kg.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, organized, alert, and reliable with good judgment for safe driving and quick decision-making under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of relevant transportation experience.
• Certification in material handling equipment operation.
• Familiarity with Oracle systems and healthcare supplies and equipment.

Additional Details

• Position is full-time regular with an FTE of 1.0.
• Shift pattern includes days, evenings, nights, and weekends with a shift length of 7.75 hours.
• Salary range is $24.48 to $27.37 per hour.
• Vehicle and driver's license are provided.
