Balan Engineering Corp. specializes in structural engineering, offering design solutions tailored for residential, commercial, and industrial developments. Our Tillsonburg, Ontario office is seeking a dedicated Draftsperson to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee small-scale projects from initial design through construction phases.
• Maintain clear coordination and communication with project teams, designers, clients, and outside consultants.
• Work collaboratively with engineers, architects, and other specialists to accurately interpret conceptual designs.
• Create precise and comprehensive drawings using CAD tools like AutoCAD, Revit, or similar applications.
• Translate rough sketches and project specifications into detailed plans.
• Design small structures including residential houses and commercial buildings.
• Develop structural drawings such as detailed plans, elevations, and specifications.
• Prepare contractual and tender documentation as well as administrative paperwork.
• Stay current with building codes and relevant design standards.
• Demonstrate ability to work both independently and within a team environment with limited supervision.
• Read, interpret, and verify design drawings for accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct site visits to review progress and prepare reports.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, or an equivalent qualification.
• Possession of a valid BCIN number is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
• Capable of producing complete structural permit drawings, specifications, and managing contract administration tasks.
• Skilled at interpreting architectural, structural, and civil drawings and plans.
• Experience working from rough sketches made by engineers and designers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
• Understanding of building systems, architectural and structural standards, and construction processes.
• High attention to detail regarding construction methodologies.
• Possession of a valid Ontario driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
