Position Overview

The Institute of Pharmacy is seeking a Doctoral Researcher specializing in nanomedicine starting 1st October 2026. This part-time role involves working closely with partners in medicine and chemistry focusing on nanomaterial properties to improve gene delivery and therapeutic techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop nanoparticles encapsulating biopolymers like nucleic acids or proteins, optimizing stability and gene delivery efficiency.
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations of particle characteristics including size, shape, composition, and stability under various conditions.
  • Examine effects of nanomaterials on liver-related immune cells.
  • Contribute to scientific dissemination via publications, posters, presentations, and produce a doctoral thesis with opportunities for international conference participation.
  • Collaborate effectively in research projects and supervise pharmacy students during internships.
  • Lead an independent scientific qualification project culminating in a doctorate.

Candidate Profile

  • A Master’s or equivalent degree in Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine, or related discipline.
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques, cell culture operations, and statistical data analysis.
  • Fluency in English and German communication.

Employment Conditions and Benefits

  • Part-time employment at 65% workload until 12 April 2029, reducing to 50% until 30 September 2029, based on a 40-hour full-time workweek.
  • Work within a globally renowned research center focused on nanoformulations and gene therapy.

  • Annual leave of 30 days plus two additional holidays on 24 and 31 December.
