Job description
Role Overview
The Discipline Support Officer will assist with student discipline management, provide mentoring support to students who need extra guidance, and help maintain a safe and orderly school environment. The role also involves routine patrols, case support, and coordination with students, parents, and school personnel.
Discipline and Mentorship Support
You will help manage day-to-day discipline-related matters such as late arrivals, in-house suspensions, detention arrangements, and student pull-out programmes. In addition, you will act as a consistent mentor for students needing closer supervision and guidance, while interacting with them in a respectful, constructive, and encouraging manner.
Patrolling and Security Monitoring
The position requires regular patrols across school premises, including classroom blocks, the canteen, basketball courts, and the field during recess and lunch periods. You will also carry out physical monitoring of the campus and nearby neighborhood after formal curriculum hours to support safety and order.
Investigative and Case Support
You will assist with behavioural incident reviews using a restorative practices approach. This includes collecting official statements from students and witnesses and sharing them with the Student Management Key Personnel for formal follow-up. You will also work with parents, teachers, and students to ensure outstanding matters are properly closed.
Job Requirements
The employer is looking for someone with at least 5 years of prior experience in an enforcement agency. A strong ability to work as part of a team while following established operating procedures is also required.
Core Skills and Work Style
The ideal candidate should be able to carry out behavioural interventions in a calm and balanced way. Sound judgment, discretion, fairness, and strict confidentiality are essential when handling investigations. You should be confident communicating with youth in a firm but respectful manner and be able to collaborate smoothly with teachers and the Student Management committee. Basic computer proficiency is also needed, including MS Word, MS Excel, email handling, and accurate data entry.
