About the Company

The employer is a well-established technology business in the life sciences space. The organisation is expanding and is seeking a senior technology and architecture leader to help transition the company from a hardware-centric product model to a platform-led business powered by software and AI.

Role Overview

This leadership position is responsible for shaping the technology direction across the full stack, from hardware and firmware through to software, cloud, and AI. The role calls for someone who can simplify complex systems for end users while aligning technical decisions with product, commercial, and R&D priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Break down ambiguous business and technical challenges into clear problem statements and system logic for stakeholders.
• Take ownership of architecture standards across hardware, firmware, software, cloud, and AI components.
• Use software design thinking to improve hardware interfaces so that advanced instruments feel straightforward and easy to use.
• Drive the design and rollout of a next-generation software platform with integrated AI functionality and cohesive workflow-based user experiences.
• Partner with R&D, Engineering, Applications, Product, and Commercial teams to ensure architecture choices fit technical limitations and business goals.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in systems architecture, platform engineering, or a closely related field.
• Strong ability to start with the problem, frame uncertainty clearly, and define the challenge before proposing solutions.
• Experience creating user-friendly interfaces for technical products aimed at consumers or non-specialist users.
