About the Role
The Flushing YMCA is searching for a Director, Youth & Family to lead and supervise all facets of the Youth & Family departments, including programs for youths, teens, families, and sports activities. This position includes oversight of off-site programs such as Y Afterschool, as well as leadership for diverse initiatives encompassing family gym time, teen development, afterschool activities, summer day camp, and more.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive management of Youth, Teen, and Family Programs.
- Oversee multiple program locations, ensuring objectives and outcomes align with government contract requirements.
- Supervise and train staff to uphold Association and program safety and quality standards.
- Act as a primary liaison with schools and local community organizations.
- Enhance program content focusing on education, physical fitness, and cultural awareness across all programs.
- Manage reporting duties to the Association Office, funding entities, and government bodies.
- Establish and nurture community partnerships to strengthen program offerings.
- Meet financial targets including budget adherence and operational profitability.
- Promote programs effectively within the community to reach enrollment goals, particularly for School-Age Child Care (SACC) and summer camps.
- Collaborate with the Board of Managers.
- Serve as Manager on Duty when assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education is mandatory; Master’s Degree in Education or Social Work is preferred.
- Leadership experience ranging from three to five years in overseeing youth and family programs; five to eight years of progressive leadership preferred.
- Familiarity with Youth Development Principles.
- Preferred credentials include ACA Camp Director training.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications required.
- Knowledge of Child Abuse Prevention Training.
- Experience in program planning and evaluation.
