Job description
Role overview
Solstice is building a new commercial engine for life sciences companies, helping pharmaceutical marketing teams launch campaigns much faster. The organization is expanding quickly, partnering with leading manufacturers and serving more than 50 pharma brands. It is also investing heavily in frontier AI approaches, including LLM-based experimentation and newer technical frameworks, while backed by prominent investors.
The Director of Strategy & Operations will work alongside executive leadership as a key advisor, sounding board, problem solver, and strategic partner. The position combines internal and external responsibilities, with oversight of operations and communication needs across the business. It is a high-visibility role for someone who can move between long-range planning and urgent execution, manage ambiguity, and contribute directly to executive decision-making. The role sits in the commercial organization and manages the current Strategy and Operations team plus several G&A functions.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the executive team to help set priorities, sequence key decisions, and advance the company’s most important initiatives.
- Extend the leadership team’s capacity by synthesizing information, surfacing insights, and ensuring executive time is spent on the highest-value work.
- Oversee multi-stakeholder, high-complexity projects, including financial reporting vendor management and invoice process automation.
- Design scalable workflows, operating frameworks, and playbooks that improve performance across the organization.
- Lead the Strategy & Operations function, expected to include one direct report, and also manage people and marketing functions with two additional direct reports.
- Own the company operating rhythm, such as leadership meetings, quarterly planning, business reviews, and cross-functional forums.
- Keep teams aligned on priorities, metrics, and accountability structures.
- Translate strategy into action plans that are clear, coordinated, and executable across functions.
- Develop analyses that convert complex data into practical recommendations for leadership.
- Support strategic choices such as market sizing, product expansion, partnership assessment, and financial modeling.
- Raise the quality and speed of company decisions through strong research and insight generation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in management consulting, strategy, business operations, or another demanding high-performance environment.
- Solid business judgment, with knowledge of healthcare, life sciences, digital health, or tech-enabled services preferred.
- Ability to break down ambiguous problems, build analytical structures, and deliver concise recommendations.
- Strong project management capability with a track record of running several initiatives, aligning stakeholders, and driving results independently.
- Polished executive presence, with the ability to build trust quickly and communicate persuasively and clearly.
- Comfort working in fast-moving, high-growth, and uncertain environments.
- Willingness to travel about 15% for customer, partner, or conference-related needs.
- Preferred background includes health-tech or AI-enabled healthcare solutions, C-suite advising or executive support, and experience in a scaling startup or operator role.
