Job description
Role overview
IONITY is expanding the foundation of electric mobility across Europe. Backed by major automotive manufacturers, the company operates the continent’s largest high-power charging network in 24 countries and is now broadening its focus from charging infrastructure into a wider mobility, energy, and digital platform.
As electric vehicle adoption grows, IONITY is working at the intersection of mobility, energy markets, technology, and customer experience. The company is looking for a senior strategy leader to shape what comes next and turn strategic direction into tangible business results.
About the position
In the role of Director Strategy & Innovation, you will lead IONITY’s strategic agenda from concept to execution and report directly to the CEO. You will help define the company’s next phase of growth while ensuring that strategy is translated into measurable outcomes. The role also includes leadership of a multidisciplinary group covering Strategy, Market & Business Intelligence, M&A, Governmental Affairs, Public Funding, and Shareholder Relations.
This is a high-impact position that brings together strategic thinking, data-driven analysis, and executional discipline. You will assess where IONITY can create future value, evaluate new business models, guide strategic transactions, and support company-wide transformation efforts.
Key responsibilities
- Spot and assess strategic opportunities continuously, converting market shifts and business trends into actionable recommendations for the company.
- Evaluate growth options across energy, mobility, and digital platform services, including new commercial models and recurring revenue opportunities.
- Act as a trusted strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership, helping test assumptions and maintain alignment across strategic topics.
- Lead the Market & Business Intelligence function, with responsibility for internal analysis of revenue, network, and energy data.
- Own core company forecasts, including market development, revenue, and energy projections.
- Oversee competitive intelligence, M&A-related analysis, and work connected to special projects.
- Turn complex analytical findings into practical, executive-ready recommendations.
- Take charge of M&A initiatives within the department.
- Drive transaction processes, including business case preparation, valuation work, and purchase price negotiations.
- Direct governmental affairs efforts and represent the organization with public and regulatory stakeholders.
- Identify, secure, and manage public funding opportunities.
- Handle shareholder relations with clear communication and strong alignment to shareholder expectations.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with more than 10 years of leadership experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, transformation, or a similar senior position. The role calls for someone who combines long-term vision with the ability to execute effectively.
You should bring proven M&A experience, including confidence in valuation and purchase price discussions, along with strong analytical and quantitative capability. Experience with, or a strong interest in, the energy, mobility, infrastructure, or technology sectors is important.
Success in this role also requires the ability to build and implement strategy in ways that lead to real business outcomes, alongside excellent stakeholder management with executives, shareholders, and public or governmental bodies. Strong leadership skills are essential, including the ability to develop and motivate a multidisciplinary team.
Fluency in English is required.
