Role Overview

This opportunity involves leading an international strategic communications network focused on driving transformative economic narratives globally. The position requires crafting and shaping communication strategies tailored to diverse national contexts and cultures, fostering partnerships, and developing infrastructure that supports movement building around critical topics such as just transition, cost of living, and the political economy of AI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and evolve a comprehensive strategic communications plan that translates intricate economic and policy themes into persuasive narratives sensitive to varying political and cultural environments.
  • Oversee and develop a global communications team, defining roles, building capabilities, and cultivating a sustainable, high-performance culture.
  • Provide strategic guidance and capacity-building to communications hubs across countries, enabling impactful local efforts aligned with broader movement goals.
  • Promote collaboration and information sharing among national hubs by creating shared methods, piloting innovations, and establishing learning processes.
  • Support urgent communication initiatives, including media engagement, messaging creation, executive communications, ghostwriting, and moments of high narrative impact.
  • Collaborate with campaign, policy, and program teams to identify strategic communication opportunities and align messaging with overarching objectives.
  • Engage and maintain relationships with funders, donors, and partners, assisting fundraising activities for global and national communications initiatives.
  • Represent the organization at sector events, partnerships, and discussions within the strategic communications community.
  • Provide mentorship and strategic advice to communication professionals, partners, and network members.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven leadership experience in strategic communications, advocacy, narrative development, or media relations within complex international settings.
  • Strong track record of developing communication strategies that shape public discourse, influence policy debates, and support social movements.
  • Experience managing distributed teams and fostering collaboration across diverse cultural and geographic environments.
  • Deep knowledge of media landscapes, digital platforms, messaging frameworks, and innovations in communication.
  • Skill in distilling complex concepts into clear, compelling content.
  • Experience engaging with funders, coalitions, partners, or advocacy groups.
  • Excellent leadership, relationship management, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Adaptability and sound judgment to navigate politically and socially sensitive contexts, operating effectively in a remote-first, dynamic, mission-driven environment.
