Position Overview
The Director of Project Management Office (PMO) at Essentia leads the management and successful delivery of complex, large-scale broadband and telecommunications initiatives. This executive role is responsible for directing a group of project managers, ensuring strategic project planning, meticulous execution, and on-time, on-budget completion while maintaining quality excellence. Driving continuous enhancement of PM processes and maintaining strong client relationships are key to this position's success.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute the PMO's strategic direction in line with overall company objectives.
- Lead, coach, and develop the project management team to foster continuous learning and improvement.
- Define and uphold PMO standards, processes, and industry best practices suited for our project portfolio.
- Supervise organization-wide project execution to guarantee timely delivery within scope and budget constraints.
- Establish and maintain project tracking and reporting systems to evaluate progress and performance.
- Regularly review project statuses and communicate outcomes to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with business unit leaders and stakeholders to ensure projects align with strategic goals.
- Promote cross-departmental communication to facilitate project success and resolve issues promptly.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and effectively address any conflicts or challenges.
- Optimize resource planning and deployment including personnel, budget, and technological assets.
- Recognize and solve resource shortfalls to equip the PMO with necessary tools and skills.
- Create and implement comprehensive risk management tactics integrated into all project activities.
- Define KPIs to gauge PMO effectiveness and provide analysis with improvement recommendations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- At least 10 years of professional project management experience, with a minimum of 5 years focused in Outside/Inside Plant Construction.
- Successful history of managing extensive and multifaceted projects from inception through completion.
- Broad technical knowledge of broadband technologies such as fiber optics, wireless transmission, and cable networks.
Technical Expertise
- Skilled in project management software tools including MS Project, Primavera, or comparable platforms.
- Comprehensive understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.
- Advanced competence in project documentation standards and quality assurance methods.
Education and Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Telecommunications, Engineering, or related disciplines is preferred.
- Possession of Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is mandatory.
Leadership and Strategic Skills
- Proven leadership capabilities with experience mentoring and managing project management teams.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders and clients.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of handling multiple priorities in dynamic environments.
- Proactive with adaptability to changing circumstances and shifting priorities.
