Founded in 1974 as America's first women's shelter, Rosie's Place dedicates itself to offering a safe, nurturing environment where women facing poverty or homelessness can regain their dignity, pursue opportunities, and achieve security. Over the years, the organization has evolved into a comprehensive community center providing meals, shelter, housing, advocacy, and educational services for thousands annually, supported solely by private donations without government funding.

Role Overview

The Director of the Women's Education Center is a critical leadership role reporting to the Senior Director of Opportunity Programs. This position drives program development, manages educational service growth, leads the education team, handles budgeting, and ensures delivery of impactful programs designed to build confidence, practical skills, and foster long-term independence. The role requires coordination with various departments and steadfast adherence to Rosie's Place mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design and management of guest-focused educational programs consistent with the organization's mission and learner-centered adult literacy best practices.
  • Oversee curriculum creation across diverse learning formats including both in-person and remote modalities.
  • Implement trauma-informed care approaches responsive to guest needs.
  • Facilitate strong internal collaborations to support comprehensive program referrals.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion consistently within all workforce development initiatives.
  • Manage and support the Women's Education Center staff through regular supervision, performance evaluations, and professional development aligned with organizational policies.
  • Direct budgeting processes and program financial management for the education center.
  • Organize staffing, schedules, and ensure program coverage as necessary, stepping in when required.
  • Maintain precise data collection and timely reporting compliance.
  • Safeguard privacy and confidentiality standards for program guests.
  • Contribute actively to the organization's Management Team, fostering leadership and representing the program in cross-functional projects.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies and quality benchmarks.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on annual program goals routinely and on request.
  • Represent Rosie's Place in external community forums exhibiting professionalism and alignment with core values.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Senior Director of Opportunity Programs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Between 5 to 7 years of experience in educational services, ideally supporting marginalized or underserved groups.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience demonstrating effective team leadership and performance management.
  • Strong alignment with Rosie's Place's social justice mission.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, judgment, and ability to handle complex situations gracefully.
  • Compassionate, diplomatic, and guest-centered communication style.
  • Proven leadership skills to motivate and support diverse teams.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and common software applications.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Dependable, adaptable, collaborative, and proactive work ethic.

Work Environment and Expectations

This full-time exempt role operates on a hybrid schedule requiring regular on-site presence to engage with staff, guests, and volunteers. Flexibility in hours and workdays is expected to accommodate organizational events and obligations. Some travel between Rosie's Place locations and community sites is required. The organization maintains health safety protocols, including vaccination requirements with accommodations for exemptions.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, a 403(b) plan, pension contributions, paid vacation, and other advantages.

Work Schedule

The expected working hours are Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Saturdays, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
