Job description

About the company

Purpose Bureau is a rapidly expanding ESG data and technology company serving the Asia Pacific region. The business helps organisations assess, track and improve sustainability performance and related risks across their operations, suppliers, customers and wider value chains.

Its platform brings together proprietary global business intelligence, sustainability datasets and software infrastructure to support organisations in areas such as enterprise climate risk, Scope 3 carbon measurement and strategy, labour and human rights, nature and biodiversity risk, and sustainability reporting and assurance preparedness.

The company supports enterprise clients across Asia and Europe, and many prominent Australian organisations use its data and insights for external reporting, risk oversight and strategic planning.

About the role

This is a senior, client-facing leadership position for an experienced sustainability professional. The role blends strategic advisory, account leadership, team management and deep subject-matter knowledge.

You will partner closely with senior leaders across sustainability, finance, procurement and risk, while also helping influence the ongoing development of the company’s products, methodologies and customer experience. The role spans sectors including banking, retail, insurance, real estate, manufacturing, professional services, resources and others.

Unlike a conventional consulting role, this opportunity is centred on building long-term partnerships with customers rather than short-term projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead executive-level relationships across a portfolio of strategic enterprise clients.
  • Serve as the principal advisor on climate risk, emissions measurement and target-setting, labour and human rights, nature risk, and sustainability reporting.
  • Facilitate strategic reviews and executive-level workshops with customers.
  • Help clients use Purpose Bureau’s data and insights for reporting, goal setting, risk management and assurance processes.
  • Spot opportunities to deepen adoption of the company’s products and services.
  • Coach, support and develop Senior Consultants and other delivery team members.
  • Provide technical review and quality control for complex client engagements.
  • Help refine the organisation’s methodologies, service approach and product direction.
  • Represent the business at industry events, client forums and stakeholder meetings.

About you

You are equally comfortable speaking to a boardroom, running a client workshop and mentoring a delivery team. You understand the technical demands of sustainability reporting as well as the practical realities organisations face when putting it into action.

Ideal experience

  • At least 8 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, climate, risk or a closely related advisory area.
  • Background in both consulting and corporate settings is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing relationships with executive-level stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability reporting and disclosure frameworks.
  • Experience leading cross-functional or multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commercially minded with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to turn technical ESG ideas into clear business decisions.

Why join

  • Build enduring client relationships rather than working on short-term assignments.
  • Join a fast-growing technology and data company.
  • Play a role in shaping the future of ESG intelligence infrastructure.
  • Work directly with the founders and senior leadership team.
  • Enjoy strong opportunities for career growth as the business expands.

Compensation and incentives

The base salary is AUD 170,000 to 220,000 plus superannuation, depending on experience.

In addition, the role includes performance incentives and participation in an equity scheme.
