Role Overview

We are collaborating with a well-established metal fabrication and manufacturing enterprise seeking a Director of Supply Chain specializing in Procurement and Materials management, located in Sauk Rapids, MN. This permanent role involves strategic leadership and comprehensive oversight of supply chain operations to ensure optimal material availability, cost efficiency, and quality throughout the organization’s multiple facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement a robust supply chain strategy that supports company growth goals.
  • Supervise procurement functions, including sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier evaluation.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement in service quality, cost reduction, and inventory turnover enhancement.
  • Assess supply chain risks and establish mitigation approaches to ensure operational continuity.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with suppliers emphasizing timely delivery, quality assurance, and competitive total costs.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators and manage departmental responsiveness.
  • Maintain adherence to regulatory, contractual, and ethical requirements.
  • Refine demand planning and forecasting accuracy along with inventory control.
  • Set inventory benchmarks that balance customer satisfaction against excess stock risks.
  • Enhance logistics, material flow, and replenishment processes across all production sites.
  • Optimize inbound freight strategies to balance cost and service.
  • Oversee department budgeting and financial performance.
  • Leverage ERP systems and analytical tools to support data-driven decisions.

Work Environment

This role requires frequent physical activities such as sitting, standing, walking short distances, and occasional bending or reaching. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Operations, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven leadership in managing end-to-end supply chain operations.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong process-building skills and urgency in execution.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems and workflow management.
  • Expert negotiation abilities and strategic thinking.
  • Strong team leadership fostering collaboration and results.
  • Excellent communication abilities across stakeholder levels.
  • Experience transitioning production-made parts to outsourced purchases effectively.
  • Track record in process optimizations and operational efficiencies.
  • Data-driven mindset with proficiency in performance metrics.
  • Successful history of managing complex projects within budget and timelines.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-changing priorities and environments.
  • Preferred: Manufacturing leadership and metal fabrication industry experience.
