Job description

About the Company

Violet Foods is a privately funded tomato business platform created through a series of acquisitions that bring together heritage Italian-style labels and a leading organic line. Established in 2025 with the purchase of Don Pepino®, Sclafani®, and Fattoria Fresca®, plus a manufacturing site in Williamstown, NJ, the company carries forward the 100+ year legacy of Violet Packing, the original maker of these brands. In early 2026, the platform expanded again with the addition of Muir Glen®, the top organic canned tomato brand in the United States, strengthening its presence in both conventional and organic categories.

At present, Violet Foods manages a broad portfolio that includes legacy regional brands and category-leading organic products, distributed through retail, natural, private label, and foodservice channels. Its manufacturing and supply chain network is designed to scale efficiently as the business grows.

Position Summary

The Director of Supply Chain will lead the company’s integrated supply chain agenda, with direct ownership of demand planning, supply planning, inventory control, Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), production planning, and strategic procurement. This role ensures demand, manufacturing capacity, supplier capability, and inventory investment stay aligned while building repeatable supply chain processes that enable growth and operational excellence. Working across internal functions and external partners, this leader will improve service performance, strengthen forecast accuracy, optimize working capital, and enhance end-to-end supply chain execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the full planning cycle across demand, supply, and production, including inventory oversight for both in-house manufacturing and co-manufacturing partners.
  • Set and manage rolling demand forecasts, supply plans, production schedules, and inventory approaches that balance customer service, operational capacity, and working capital goals.
  • Own the S&OP process and drive alignment among Sales, Finance, Operations, Procurement, Customer Service, and Manufacturing.
  • Design inventory strategies that protect service levels while reducing excess stock, obsolescence, and working capital exposure by tracking safety stock, inventory age, lot code control, reconciliations, and action plans for slow-moving or surplus inventory.
  • Coordinate production priorities with plants, co-manufacturers, warehouses, and logistics partners to support uninterrupted supply and efficient operations.
  • Oversee order fulfillment performance and respond quickly to service risks, allocation issues, production limits, and supply interruptions.
  • Support product launches, transitions, customer onboarding, and commercialization through strong production and inventory planning.
  • Establish and track KPIs such as forecast accuracy, inventory turns, fill rates, production attainment, customer service, supplier performance, and overall supply chain efficiency.
  • Develop sourcing strategies and manage suppliers for raw materials, ingredients, packaging, finished goods, and outside manufacturing to maintain supply, support operations, and improve margins.
  • Lead contract manufacturing negotiations covering pricing, lead times, payment terms, capacity commitments, and service expectations while reducing supply risk.
  • Work closely with Operations, Manufacturing, and Finance to ensure material availability matches production plans, customer demand, and inventory targets.
  • Review supplier performance and study commodity markets, supplier capacity, and industry trends to uncover sourcing opportunities, reduce risk, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Keep supplier, material, and purchasing records accurate in ERP systems to support planning, buying, and reporting.
  • Create scalable supply chain processes and spearhead improvement initiatives focused on planning precision, inventory efficiency, procurement performance, supplier quality, and operational excellence.
  • Strengthen communication, decision-making, and execution across the organization while promoting accountability, collaboration, and data-based leadership.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, along with 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in planning, supply chain, procurement, or operations within a CPG or food manufacturing setting.
  • Deep knowledge of demand planning, supply planning, S&OP, inventory management, and production planning is essential.
  • Background in procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation, and vendor management is needed.
  • Experience with co-manufacturers and complex supplier ecosystems is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is expected.
  • ERP system experience is required; implementation experience is considered a plus.
  • Strong analytical and financial judgment is needed to assess costs, trends, and supplier performance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities are important.
  • The right candidate should be comfortable in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial, growth-focused environment.
