Overview

The Director of Social Strategy and Creative leads the vision, quality, and daily management of the Social Division at AFMKTG. This role involves overseeing social media managers, creators, editors, designers, photographers, videographers, and external creative collaborators, while serving as the strategic lead for client campaigns. Working closely with the CEO, this position focuses on enhancing creative standards, refining processes, mentoring the team, and ensuring outstanding client experiences from strategy development through project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Social Division across all client engagements.
  • Stay informed on platform trends, algorithm changes, paid and organic strategies, audience insights, luxury branding, AI applications, and emerging best practices to keep clients competitive.
  • Coach and push the creative team to expand ideas and elevate work quality consistently.
  • Review and enhance social media strategies, content plans, and campaigns to uphold and exceed quality standards before client delivery.
  • Lead content production efforts, including on-site creative direction at photoshoots and video shoots within the San Diego area, ensuring exceptional content capture.
  • Mentor and develop a team of 5–10+ creative professionals, fostering accountability and high performance.
  • Act as senior strategic advisor to client accounts, managing meetings, presenting strategies, handling feedback, and guaranteeing proactive client service.

This role suits an individual who blends strategic insight, creative direction, coaching ability, and leadership skills. They possess refined creative judgement and excel in nurturing creative talent, managing client relationships at executive levels, directing productions, and providing constructive feedback that transforms good work into exceptional quality. They are proactive problem solvers who value excellence and pride in delivering remarkable work.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years' leadership experience in social marketing, content creation, or creative teams at agencies.
  • Experience managing and mentoring teams comprising 5–10+ creative members.
  • Proven skill in leading premium content production from concept through to completion.
  • Deep familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Meta advertising, analytics, and platform strategies.
  • Background working with luxury, hospitality, real estate, multifamily, lifestyle, or aesthetic medicine brands.
  • Strong executive presence, communication, and presentation capabilities.
  • Highly organized with excellent project management skills.
  • Passionate about coaching creatives and cultivating high-achieving teams.

Location and Work Requirements

  • Regular in-person collaboration with clients and internal creative teams is mandatory.
  • Availability to lead client meetings and creative content executions within San Diego, approximately 10-12 production days monthly.
  • Ability to direct creative teams and on-camera talent at photoshoots and video sessions.
  • Willingness to travel outside the San Diego region about 10% of the time as needed.
