Job description

About the Company

The company is developing humanoid robots for homes to handle chores, complete tasks, and give people back their time. Its work spans robotics, artificial intelligence, and manufacturing, with a strong emphasis on safety, scale, and real-world use alongside families. Founded in 2014, the organization is now moving from solving the hardest technical problems into the stage of heavy execution and large-scale delivery.

Its flagship product is a home robot built to move, learn, and operate in everyday environments. The company is actively shipping product and hiring people who want to help bring meaningful technology to the world while advancing safe and abundant living.

About the Team

The Infrastructure function supports the environments that help robots and the teams building them operate effectively. It handles the scaling of manufacturing and lab spaces, safety, reliability, and operational excellence across sites. The group provides the physical backbone that allows engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to move quickly and scale efficiently.

Role Overview

The Facilities organization is responsible for creating and operating the physical foundation that supports the company’s growth from development into production. This includes manufacturing sites, laboratories, warehouses, and workplaces that must remain safe, dependable, and ready for daily operations.

As the company expands, this function sits on the critical path for operational readiness, infrastructure scalability, and execution speed. The role is central to removing physical bottlenecks, supporting manufacturing growth, and ensuring the environments behind the robots keep pace with the technology itself.

Key Outcomes

  • Lead and expand a security program across the San Carlos and Hayward locations that protects employees, safeguards important work, and supports fast-paced operations without creating friction.
  • Establish a strong on-site security model with dependable coverage, clear escalation routes, and consistent real-time handling of incidents, investigations, visitor flow, and workplace safety concerns.
  • Build and guide a security team that is reliable, composed, operationally strong, and able to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and sound judgment.
  • Work closely with Facilities, Manufacturing, IT, Legal, and People teams to surface risks early, improve site readiness, and strengthen workplace safety and resilience.
  • Create scalable processes, reporting structures, and emergency response programs that improve visibility, support better decisions, and increase readiness as the company continues to grow.

Core Competencies

  • Strong operational leader with experience running physical security in manufacturing, hardware, robotics, industrial, or similarly high-risk environments.
  • Composed decision-maker who can act quickly during active incidents, workplace escalations, emergencies, and other high-pressure moments.
  • Proven track record of building security programs, improving operational discipline, and raising standards across people, processes, systems, and site readiness.
  • Effective cross-functional partner able to collaborate with Facilities, Manufacturing, IT, Legal, People, and executive leaders.
  • Practical, hands-on leader who is comfortable owning day-to-day site operations while also shaping long-term strategy and scalable infrastructure.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in physical security, including leadership across multiple sites or complex environments.
  • Background in managing on-site security teams, incident response, access control systems, CCTV, visitor management, and guard operations.
  • Proven ability to build or scale physical security programs in operationally intensive settings.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Strong communication, judgment, and de-escalation skills, with the ability to work effectively in highly dynamic environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in robotics, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, defense, or similar high-consequence industries.
  • Background in corporate security, industrial security, military, law enforcement, or intelligence, paired with strong private-sector operating experience.
  • Experience protecting sensitive R&D environments, prototypes, or intellectual property.
  • Exposure to crisis management, business continuity, executive protection, or emergency response planning.
  • CPP, PSP, or comparable security certifications.

What Success Looks Like

People who thrive here are builders who move quickly, take full ownership of their work, and treat time as a limited resource. They communicate clearly, complete what they begin, and hold themselves to a high standard without waiting to be prompted. The culture emphasizes honesty, respect, and mutual push toward better performance.

Compensation

The compensation range for this role is $220,000 to $275,000 per year.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees
  • Paid time off, company holidays, and parental leave
  • 401(k) plan with employer match: 100% on the first 3% of employee contributions and 50% on the next 2%
  • Flexible Spending Account and Health Savings Account options
  • Transit and parking commuter benefits
  • Short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program for mental health, financial, and personal support
  • On-site snacks and catered lunches
