About the Company

Situated between the dynamic hubs of Chinatown and the Central Business District, the hotel occupies a prime location in Duxton Hill — Singapore's rapidly evolving neighborhood known for its specialty cafes, top-tier dining, vibrant bars, art galleries, and boutique shops. The property embodies a unique blend of cultural energy and modernity.

Job Overview

The Director of Sales will spearhead all sales operations, prioritizing long-lasting customer relationships to ensure room revenue targets on various segments are met or surpassed. The ultimate goal is to optimize revenue, improve profits, and enhance the hotel's market positioning. This leadership role includes managing, training, and supervising the sales team across all sales-related functions, including direct sales, follow-ups, and proper sales administration. The Director is also responsible for expanding existing accounts while driving new business growth and reports directly to the General Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee group, transient, and related sales activities to augment revenue across properties within the assigned portfolio.
  • Collaborate with management to devise and execute sales strategies addressing revenue targets, customer segments, and market opportunities tailored to each sales team member.
  • Prepare, implement, and analyze data supporting strategic sales plans, monthly and annual SMART objectives, budgets, forecasts, and other required reports.
  • Partner with the Director of Revenue Management to formulate pricing strategies, group booking limits, and deployment plans based on competitive intelligence, demand patterns, and segment mix management.
  • Roll out promotions and special offers to stimulate sales.
  • Recruit, guide, train, and evaluate sales staff to unlock their full revenue potential.
  • Lead participation in sales presentations and client engagements to secure business.
  • Organize and attend daily business review meetings, weekly strategic sales discussions, and management meetings.
  • Represent the hotel at community and industry events as appropriate.
  • Oversee all sales department activities, ensuring timely completion and adherence to company policies and SOPs.
  • Maintain market intelligence to predict opportunities and design proactive sales initiatives.
  • Set and monitor sales targets to maximize revenue outcomes.
  • Manage sales department operations within the established expense budget.
  • Initiate and pursue sales leads rigorously.
  • Track performance of key accounts, analyze market trends, and hold sales personnel accountable for their territories.
  • Coordinate all non-group transient sales and catering efforts to optimize market mix.
  • Administer training programs within the sales department and supervise daily activities of direct reports.
  • Produce timely reports and conduct regular team meetings including weekly sales meetings and daily briefings.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching, mentoring, and disciplinary actions as necessary, aligned with corporate policies and ethics.
  • Ensure thorough, professional site inspections with clients highlighting the property’s unique selling points; ensure sales managers do likewise.
  • Formulate strategies to improve and maximize market share versus competitors.

Work Culture and Values

  • Communicate openly and honestly, maintaining authenticity and sincerity in all interactions.
  • Promote a positive, fun, and engaging work environment with energy, creativity, and camaraderie.
  • Be responsible and dependable, owning commitments fully and delivering on promises.
  • Innovate and think creatively to stay ahead, embracing new ideas and unconventional approaches.
  • Stay attentive to details, be present in the moment, and focus on delivering excellent guest experiences consistently.

Additional Information

All sales operations are geared towards maximizing occupancy, increasing Average Daily Rate (ADR), and boosting Food & Beverage revenue in alignment with the hotel’s vision and market demands.
