Job description
Overview
The Director of Sales leads and oversees all daily sales operations, focusing on cultivating lasting, value-driven client relationships that contribute to achieving the property's sales targets. This role includes meeting personal booking targets and advising on the booking goals for the sales team.
Qualifications
- A 2-year college degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related area with a minimum of 3 years of relevant sales and marketing experience; or
- A 4-year bachelor's degree in one of the aforementioned fields and at least 1 year of pertinent experience in sales and marketing or a related discipline.
Primary Duties
- Collaborate with sales leadership to fully understand and implement the sales strategy for the segment.
- Engage with the management team to formulate and execute a comprehensive sales plan focused on revenue, customer acquisition, and market presence.
- Contribute to the creation and rollout of promotional campaigns both internally and externally.
- Provide proactive leadership to maximize revenue potential by setting personal and team booking objectives.
- Supervise daily activities of sales staff and approve space allocation for catering to optimize revenue in the absence of relevant managers.
- Participate in sales meetings alongside team members to attract new clients and close deals.
- Support the operational processes linked to booked business such as proposal generation, contract preparation, and client communication.
- Analyze market data using sales systems and partner with Revenue Management to prepare accurate financial forecasts.
- Review guest satisfaction metrics related to sales and catering and identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead by example in delivering hospitality excellence and promoting superior customer service standards.
- Engage with guests before and after conventions to gather feedback on service and product quality.
- Empower and guide employees to deliver outstanding customer experiences.
- Integrate guest satisfaction discussions into team meetings to encourage ongoing improvement.
- Work collaboratively with off-property sales channels to ensure aligned efforts and meet property objectives.
- Participate actively in industry events to maintain and build key customer relationships.
- Manage recruitment and training activities to ensure suitable team capabilities.
