Position Summary
This remote role reports directly to the Vice President of Sales. The Director of Sales for Foodservice will lead strategic growth, managing and expanding the foodservice channel through direct customer engagement, distributor relationships, and broker management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the foodservice growth strategy aligned with company objectives.
- Oversee existing broker partners and recruit broker teams as needed to support growth.
- Manage trade spend within the approved foodservice budget.
- Conduct roughly 35% domestic travel for field visits, trade shows, headquarters engagements, and meetings.
- Leverage professional network for product adoption and brand awareness.
- Represent the company in sales negotiations and customer interactions.
- Establish and nurture relationships with operators, chefs, and distributor partners.
- Drive new business by targeting independent, midsize, and national chain accounts including conducting research, outreach, presentations, order coordination, and distribution.
- Maintain strong connections with key foodservice distributors such as Sysco/European Imports, Chefs Warehouse, PFG, and regional distributors in the Midwest and New England.
- Plan and attend food shows and industry meetings; assist with booth setup, product sampling, customer acquisition, and follow-ups.
- Launch promotions and introduce new items effectively through distributor sales reps.
- Utilize CRM systems and internal tracking tools to monitor progress and report results.
- Prioritize consistent follow-up post sales activities, including shows and client visits.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years sales experience with at least 2 years in the foodservice sector.
- Familiarity with foodservice distributor networks, especially Sysco/European Imports, Chefs Warehouse, and DOT Foods.
- Strong insight into the college/university foodservice market segment.
- Passionate about food and committed to delivering excellent customer service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Competent with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Self-motivated, organized, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Preferred but not mandatory: experience with frozen or Asian food products and working alongside founder-led businesses.
