About Sofitel Queenstown

The Director of Revenue at Sofitel Queenstown is a senior leadership position responsible for crafting and executing strategies that maximize revenue streams including occupancy rates, average daily rates, and total hotel revenue. This position plays a critical role in enhancing profitability through in-depth analysis of market patterns, pricing strategies, inventory control, and efficient management of distribution channels while aligning with Sofitel's luxury brand standards and strategic repositioning efforts.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the revenue management strategy focusing on business mix, pricing, and brand positioning to optimize hotel occupancy, rates, and yield.
  • Collaborate closely with local La Maison and Accor teams to ensure coherent deployment of revenue management initiatives.
  • Participate actively in strategic planning, marketing plans, and budgeting, challenging and refining these approaches alongside the General Manager and Sales & Marketing Manager.
  • Provide comprehensive reports on revenue performance and suggest sales actions based on identified business risks and opportunities.
  • Utilize competitor intelligence tools such as STR to optimize competitor sets and benchmark performance against the luxury segment.
  • Consolidate and manage RM performance data to forecast future business opportunities and challenges spanning weekly to yearly periods.
  • Ensure proper training, processes, systems, and tools for revenue management are effectively implemented and maintained.
  • Analyze current and historical demand data, including lost business and competitive market trends, for more accurate forecasting.
  • Monitor third-party market intelligence sources to discover additional revenue opportunities and stay abreast of industry trends and their impact.
  • Coordinate annual pricing strategies for business, leisure, and wholesale rates based on market conditions and forecasts.
  • Lead the hotel's top-line revenue budgeting process and ensure adherence to pricing, rate parity, and distribution policies.
  • Drive an effective web distribution strategy prioritizing growth in direct web bookings versus indirect channels, in partnership with country-level Revenue Director and marketing.
  • Promote a revenue-focused culture through continual training and communication efforts.
  • Offer consultation to General Manager and revenue managers on technical revenue management and human resources matters including recruitment, coaching, and training.
  • Engage in owner consultations and commercial reviews as required.
  • Lead data-driven strategies to achieve results that surpass market expectations.
  • Provide analytical insights to enhance stakeholders' and teams' understanding of revenue dynamics.
  • Serve as a primary communicator for owners regarding overarching strategies and market intelligence.
  • Act as a marketplace specialist and key resource for competitive intelligence.
  • Use the business and financial plans to control expenditures during the financial year ensuring activities remain within budget.
  • Identify and propose additional commercial opportunities beyond the budget that align with strategic goals.
  • Ensure optimal performance in maximizing top-line revenue relative to budgeted targets.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Hospitality, Hotel Management, or Business.
  • At least 5 to 7 years of full-time experience in revenue management.
  • Proficient in IDeaS, Excel, Tars, and Opera systems.
  • Strong grasp of financial management processes.
  • Essential experience in Revenue Management; experience with Accor Revenue Management and distribution systems is desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates eagerness and aptitude for continuous professional growth.
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders such as owners, general managers, and other business partners.
  • Highly results-driven to maximize hotel performance.
