Role Overview

The Director of Property and Facilities Operations is responsible for ensuring that every Museum of Ice Cream location throughout the United States remains safe, compliant, efficient, and consistently engaging. This individual oversees all physical aspects of our spaces, from opening new museums to managing daily operational systems. They establish and scale guidelines to maintain brand standards, asset management, and support teams in delivering seamless experiences.

Reporting directly to the EVP of Operations, the role acts as a strategic liaison connecting Operations, Production, Construction, Legal, and Finance teams to guarantee smooth transitions from design to launch and ongoing maintenance. It combines leadership with practical management of vendors, quality assurance, and scalable process implementation across expanding locations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage property and facilities operations across all U.S. Museum of Ice Cream sites, ensuring adherence to brand expectations, safety, and compliance requirements.
• Develop and deploy comprehensive company-wide systems for maintenance, vendor oversight, preventive care, and emergency procedures.
• Lead and grow site-level Facilities Managers and oversee external vendors to ensure timely, cost-efficient, and quality results.
• Collaborate with Construction and Production departments on new facility construction, refurbishments, and capital projects ensuring readiness and respect for design intent.
• Ensure full adherence to property compliance including fire and life safety, health standards, permits, accessibility regulations, insurance mandates, and local laws, working closely with Legal and HR.
• Control facility and property budgets including capital expenditure planning and cost management across all sites.
• Manage lease terms, relationships with landlords, and maintenance of vital property documentation such as permits, warranties, and insurance certificates.
• Advance initiatives focused on energy efficiency, sustainability, and waste reduction throughout all venues.
• Guarantee the implementation and regular testing of business continuity plans, safety drills, and disaster recovery protocols.
• Promote operational excellence by enforcing consistent standards, conducting audits, and maintaining reporting dashboards.

Compensation

This role offers a salary ranging from $130,000 to $160,000 USD depending on experience, supplemented by an annual bonus and stock options.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Operations, or a related discipline is mandatory.
• At least 15 years’ experience in facilities, property, or operations management within multi-site experiential, hospitality, or retail sectors.
• Facility Management Professional (FMP) certification by IFMA or equivalent facility management certification required.
• In-depth knowledge of building systems, maintenance strategies, and compliance requirements.
• Experience handling construction handovers and collaborating with contractors, landlords, and cross-functional teams.
• Proven expertise in developing scalable processes for multiple locations.
• Strong financial acumen relevant to capital planning, budgeting, and managing vendor expenses.
• Superior written and verbal communication abilities, with experience representing the organization professionally to various stakeholders including landlords and regulators.
• A commitment to clarity, accountability, and maintaining high standards in both operational and executive environments.

Preferred Skills and Background

• Prior involvement in theme parks, attractions, immersive experiences, or live entertainment such as circuses is an advantage.
• Candidates residing in California, New York, or Florida are preferred.
