About Oula

Oula is redefining maternity care by blending the strengths of midwifery and obstetrics within a collaborative, team-based framework that unites OB-GYNs, certified nurse-midwives, and care navigators under a single platform and clinic environment. Since its Brooklyn clinic's inception in 2021, Oula has facilitated more than 2,700 deliveries with a C-section rate significantly below NYC averages and an excellent patient satisfaction score, while accepting most major insurances including Medicaid. The company is expanding nationally and enhancing its technology-enabled care platform throughout the reproductive lifecycle.

Role Overview

The Director of Product will lead the vision and execution of Oula's technology solutions used by patients and clinicians, including the electronic health record system, patient portal, and navigation tools. Working closely with clinical, operational, and engineering teams, you will guide product strategy, design scalable systems, and address complex challenges within a regulated healthcare environment to improve maternity and reproductive health services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured user interviews across reproductive health stages to deepen understanding of patient needs.
  • Maintain feedback channels with midwives, OBs, and care navigators to continuously identify unmet needs.
  • Analyze qualitative research, patient portal metrics, and satisfaction data to inform product decisions.
  • Observe clinical workflows directly to detect inefficiencies and manual workarounds.
  • Manage the complete product roadmap aligning initiatives with company goals for growth, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead quarterly planning cycles and maintain a prioritized backlog of work.
  • Navigate and reconcile competing stakeholder priorities through clear communication on tradeoffs.
  • Own complex, cross-functional problems including workflow breakdowns and operational decisions affecting patient care.
  • Develop comprehensive product requirement documents in collaboration with Product Operations.
  • Balance the consumer experience expectations with regulatory and clinical constraints.
  • Partner with clinical leadership to ensure evidence-based feature development.
  • Oversee post-launch processes including training, documentation, and performance metrics analysis.
  • Monitor market trends in women's health technology and identify competitive opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in product management, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership capacity.
  • Proven track record delivering patient- or clinician-facing products within healthcare or related sectors.
  • Deep familiarity with clinical workflows and the ability to identify misalignments between technology and processes.
  • Experience navigating HIPAA, EHR integrations, and regulatory compliance in healthcare.
  • Ability to build consensus across diverse teams including operations, clinical staff, and engineers.
  • Strong user discovery and research competencies with an ability to convert insights into prioritized product initiatives.
  • End-to-end product roadmap ownership including stakeholder management, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Exceptional written communication to produce clear, unambiguous documentation accessible to clinicians and engineers alike.
  • Proactive communication and change management skills to facilitate smooth product rollouts and alignment.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, driven to initiate progress without full clarity or consensus.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Background in venture-backed digital health startups or healthcare consulting with operational experience.
  • Knowledge of women's health, reproductive, or maternal healthcare sectors.
  • Exposure to hybrid care models combining in-person and virtual services.
  • Competence in data-driven decision-making—including SQL and product analytics platforms.
  • Residency in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Chicago, or Charlotte is favorable.

Ideal Candidate Traits

  • Comfortable identifying and resolving unclear or broken processes within complex systems.
  • Skilled in systems thinking, collaboration, facilitation of clinical and operational discussions, and gaining stakeholder trust.
  • Experienced delivering structured solutions in ambiguous, high-velocity settings.
  • Hands-on approach: writing specifications, overseeing implementations, following-up on outcomes.
  • Acts as a liaison bridging operations, clinicians, and engineering to transform manual workarounds into scalable systems.

Success Metrics for Year One

  • Immersed within clinical teams gaining detailed understanding of workflows and identifying fragile processes.
  • Successfully resolved a significant cross-functional challenge resulting in improved alignment and operational improvement.
  • Ensured engineering delivers prioritized quarterly objectives with measurable outcomes and minimal mid-cycle changes.
  • Led delivery of at least two major features with comprehensive pre- and post-launch assessments.
  • Highlighted critical product opportunities in preparation for company’s future geographic expansions.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary ranging from $175,000 to $200,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
  • Equity participation program.
  • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • A mission-focused culture dedicated to transforming maternity healthcare.

Equal Opportunity Statement
