Job description

About Kiddom

Kiddom is an innovative education platform focused on improving student outcomes and expanding equity by combining strong instructional content with adaptable digital learning tools. Its curriculum management capabilities help schools and districts shape their own instructional approach, while data and insights support better teaching decisions, stronger school and district programs, and ongoing professional learning.

Role overview

Kiddom is hiring a Director of Product Design to guide a senior design team and redefine the standard for design quality across the product. Reporting to the VP of Product, this leader will set the design direction, strengthen and scale the design system, and work closely with Product, Engineering, and Curriculum to create experiences that serve teachers and students well.

The role is also responsible for building the systems, practices, and team culture needed to support design at scale, while helping shape intuitive and meaningful experiences for teachers, students, and administrators.

What you will do

  • Lead, develop, and expand a team of product designers while maintaining a consistently high standard for quality and feedback.
  • Define the overall product design direction across teacher, student, and administrator experiences, and clearly articulate what strong design should look like.
  • Own and improve the company’s design system so designers and engineers can work efficiently as the product grows.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Curriculum teams on roadmap planning, OKRs, and executive-level reviews.
  • Guide the team through major changes in how design work is approached and delivered.
  • Remain hands-on in the work and continue contributing directly to design output.
  • Create and clarify career paths across disciplines so designers understand what excellence looks like and how to grow.

What Kiddom is looking for

  • 8 to 12 years of product design experience, including at least 3 years leading design teams.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates systems thinking, interaction design, and strong craft across complex digital products.
  • Experience building or substantially improving a design system.
  • A strong history of shaping priorities and roadmap decisions with Product, Engineering, and Curriculum partners.
  • Ability to remain hands-on with design work and continue making strong individual contributions.
  • Comfort using AI tools as part of an everyday workflow.
  • Clear and direct communication style, with the confidence to defend design choices in challenging discussions.
  • Ability to work well in uncertainty and adapt quickly when priorities shift.
  • Familiarity with accessibility expectations under WCAG and inclusive design practices.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $240,000 to $270,000. Final compensation depends on location, previous experience, seniority, and performance demonstrated during the interview process.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Meaningful equity
  • Health coverage, including medical plans with PPO/HMO/HSA options, plus dental, vision, disability, and life insurance
  • One Medical membership in participating locations
