Overview
The Director of Procurement will spearhead strategic sourcing, supplier engagement, and purchasing operations across a diversified portfolio in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and Generator service businesses. This role entails negotiating company-wide supplier contracts, championing cost reduction endeavors, elevating vendor performance, and harmonizing procurement workflows throughout multiple business locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement sourcing strategies spanning HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Generator, and associated service verticals.
- Lead negotiations for enterprise-scale agreements with manufacturers, distributors, and principal vendors to secure enhanced pricing, rebates, and service quality.
- Oversee supplier relationships, establish vendor performance benchmarks, and manage preferred-vendor initiatives.
- Drive consolidation of spending, discover cost savings, and improve margins across different operating companies.
- Collaborate with operational leadership to unify purchasing procedures, equipment standards, and inventory management techniques.
- Coordinate procurement integration for acquired businesses and pinpoint synergies for buying efficiencies.
- Keep track of pricing trends for commodities like HVAC equipment, copper, steel, refrigerants, generators, and electrical components.
- Enhance inventory controls, optimize working capital, and ensure supply chain reliability.
- Maximize manufacturer rebates, cooperative funds, warranty recoveries, and supplier incentives.
- Establish procurement indicators, conduct spend analytics, and create dashboards to facilitate strategic choices.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years leadership experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or purchasing.
- Proven track record in negotiating enterprise supplier contracts and managing procurement operations across multiple sites.
- Deep understanding of HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical Services, Generator Services, Industrial Distribution, Facilities Services, Utilities, or Construction Trades.
- Demonstrated achievement of quantifiable cost reductions and improvement in supplier performance.
- Experience collaborating with OEMs, distributors, manufacturers, and equipment providers.
- Robust skills in financial analysis, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, generator, mechanical contracting, facilities management, or building services industries.
- Experience in private equity-backed or acquisition-focused organizations.
- Exposure to multi-location or roll-up organizational models.
- Relevant certifications such as CPSM, CPM, CSCP, CPIM or equivalent in procurement.
- Hands-on knowledge of ERP, procurement systems, spend analytics, and inventory management software.
