Position Overview
The Director of Philanthropy at Miracle Flights is a senior philanthropic role reporting to the Chief of Philanthropy. This remote U.S. position focuses on leading the comprehensive individual giving strategy and operations, engaging donors across all tiers, from first-time contributors to major donors. The director aims to build a seamless donor experience that optimizes acquisition, retention, upgrading, and stewardship efforts to ensure consistent philanthropic income.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of major, mid-level, and prospective donors through personalized engagement, including discovery, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
- Create and implement tailored engagement plans to deepen donor relationships and solicit gifts.
- Lead and oversee Miracle Flights’ annual giving program, driving strategies for donor acquisition, retention, renewal, and reactivation while analyzing and improving campaign results.
- Develop and expand the monthly recurring giving program by acquiring new donors, increasing retention rates, and delivering exclusive stewardship experiences.
- Direct integrated fundraising campaigns involving direct mail, digital, email, and social media, coordinating messaging with the Impact team, managing production timelines, and evaluating campaign ROI.
- Design and oversee donor stewardship programs to ensure timely acknowledgments, impact reporting, and initiatives that enhance donor loyalty and retention.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership and other philanthropic team members to develop transformational giving strategies, funder relationship strategies, and stewardship practices.
- Maintain pipeline forecasting, track donation activity and proposals within the CRM (Bloomerang), and report regularly on progress through portfolio reviews and dashboards.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in fundraising with proven success managing individual giving programs across multiple donor segments.
- History of personally soliciting and closing substantial individual gifts.
- Strong expertise in campaign management, including direct mail strategies.
- Familiarity with donor databases and CRM systems, preferably Bloomerang.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Robust analytical and project management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a national nonprofit setting.
- Certification as a CFRE or interest in pursuing this credential.
