Job description
Role overview
A fast-growing dental services group with multiple locations is hiring a commercially minded, field-based Director of Operations to oversee its southern region. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who can manage a regional profit and loss statement, guide practice leaders, and raise operational results across a network of dental practices.
The position reports to the VP of Operations and functions as the general manager for the assigned region. You will carry full responsibility for market results, team leadership, execution, and financial performance. This is a highly visible, on-the-ground role for a leader who prefers being close to the business rather than operating from an office.
What you will do
- Take ownership of regional P&L results and deliver on financial and operational goals.
- Work closely with practice managers and field teams to strengthen day-to-day execution.
- Improve core performance indicators such as dollars per visit, visits per day, and doctor days.
- Coach, influence, and support teams through change while staying practical and hands-on.
- Spot operational weaknesses and introduce consistent improvements across the market.
- Help with hiring and talent development for both administrative and revenue-producing roles.
- Serve as a visible field leader who builds confidence with practice teams and clears obstacles that limit performance.
What the employer is looking for
- Demonstrated leadership in multi-site operations, ideally within dental services.
- Strong commercial judgment and direct experience managing a regional P&L.
- Ability to thrive in a flat organization with regular exposure to senior executives.
- A practical leadership style with the ability to coach and execute effectively.
- Comfort with conflict, difficult conversations, and influencing stakeholders during change.
- Proven ability to develop teams, raise operating standards, and produce measurable gains in performance.
- Preference for candidates who have been shaped by organizations known for rigorous leadership development and disciplined execution.
Additional information
This is a full-time, onsite role based in Texas, United States. The role is field-based and focused on active leadership across the southern region.
