Overview
We are a dynamic, expanding multi-location field services company focused on supporting commercial and industrial facilities throughout the Midwest and Northeast regions. Our teams specialize in servicing, installing, and maintaining essential infrastructure systems that ensure smooth operational continuity. With multiple branches functioning as distinct, service-oriented units but supported by centralized leadership, we are in an accelerated growth stage and seeking a leader to help scale our operational footprint.
Role Summary
The Director of Operations will manage multiple branch managers across approximately eight locations, each generating $2M–$10M in annual revenue. This role calls for a hands-on leader with deep field experience to enhance operational consistency, improve performance metrics, and successfully scale the business. The position demands significant travel initially (about 80%), primarily within the Northeast and Midwest, with remote work possible when not traveling.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor branch managers across multiple sites to foster growth and operational excellence.
- Drive revenue expansion, operational efficiency, and profitability.
- Implement standardized processes across locations while allowing necessary adaptability.
- Track key performance indicators, profit and loss data, and operational metrics.
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, and professional development for both technicians and management teams.
- Enhance service delivery efficiency and elevate customer satisfaction standards.
- Collaborate closely with executive leadership to shape growth strategies.
Travel and Location
- Initial travel requirement is approximately 80% to various branch sites, expected to decline as teams mature.
- Remote work from home when not engaged in travel.
- Ideal candidates reside near or within reasonable travel distance to key regional hubs such as Springfield MA, Cleveland OH, Columbus OH, Syracuse NY, Pittsburgh PA, Hartford CT, or Boston MA.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years in overhead door, dock equipment, mechanical services, or a comparable field service environment.
- Demonstrated leadership in multi-site or branch operations management.
- Strong insight into managing field technicians and operational workflows.
- Proven track record of boosting operational performance and scaling business units.
- Comfortable with hands-on leadership and operational involvement.
- Preferred experience in overhead doors, dock equipment, or commercial/industrial door systems.
- Background working with private equity-backed or fast-growing companies, including exposure to mergers and acquisitions or integration.
Compensation
The base salary range is $150,000 to $200,000 annually. Additional bonuses and benefits apply but are not included in this range.
