Job description
Role Overview
This leadership role is responsible for steering a regional fiber network’s day-to-day operations, financial outcomes, and expansion plans. The position is accountable for full profit and loss ownership and acts as the primary operational leader for the market, overseeing network operations, customer experience, field teams, and business growth initiatives.
The right candidate will bring a practical, on-the-ground leadership style and deep experience in telecommunications, broadband, or fiber infrastructure. Success in this role requires the ability to balance execution, financial discipline, and market development.
Business and Financial Leadership
- Take ownership of the region’s financial results, including P&L, capital spending, operating expenses, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Create and implement plans that increase subscriber numbers, revenue, profitability, and market reach.
- Spot opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen return on investment.
Operations Management
- Direct the regional fiber network’s daily operations, covering activations, maintenance, network uptime, and restoration work.
- Work closely with engineering, construction, and operations groups to ensure a seamless handoff from network buildout to customer service.
- Set operating standards and continually enhance service delivery and network performance.
Leadership and Team Development
- Hire, coach, and grow strong cross-functional teams.
- Promote a work culture built on accountability, collaboration, safety, and customer focus.
- Guide and support field operations, customer support, and other operational staff.
Customer and Community Engagement
- Protect and improve customer experience while supporting retention and service quality.
- Develop strong working relationships with municipalities, utilities, community groups, and other important stakeholders.
- Serve as the company’s representative in the local market and help advance partnerships that support growth.
Performance and Reporting
- Track key metrics such as installation results, service quality, response speed, and customer satisfaction.
- Use data and KPI trends to drive continuous improvement.
- Prepare operational and financial updates for executive leaders.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline is required; an MBA is preferred.
- At least 8 years of progressive leadership experience in telecommunications, broadband, fiber, utilities, or infrastructure operations.
- Prior ownership of a $10M+ operating budget with direct P&L responsibility.
- Solid knowledge of FTTH networks, broadband operations, fiber infrastructure, OSP/ISP environments, or similar telecom technologies.
- Experience leading teams across operations, engineering, construction, and customer support.
- Proven ability to deliver operational results, financial performance, and organizational growth.
- Experience working with municipalities, utilities, government bodies, or regulatory organizations.
Preferred Background
- FTTH deployment experience.
- Exposure to enterprise fiber or carrier network environments.
- Background in broadband service operations.
- Experience in infrastructure startups or market expansion initiatives.
- Work on utility or municipal broadband projects.
- Commercial telecommunications services experience.
