Role overview
ROSS Commissioning is introducing a new, strategically significant business unit within the ROSS Group and is looking for a Director of Operations to help lead it from the ground up. This is a founding leadership opportunity for a seasoned technical professional who wants genuine ownership of strategy, team building, innovation, and direct engagement with international clients to deliver fully integrated commissioning services.
What the role involves
In this position, you will be central to setting up and expanding the technical capability of ROSS Commissioning. Working closely with senior leadership, you will help define how delivery is structured, set technical direction, and strengthen ROSS’s position as a trusted partner for complex, mission-critical assignments.
A major part of the job is supporting business growth through technical leadership. You will contribute to client conversations, shape proposed solutions, assist with bids, and help broaden ROSS’s internal capability across design, manufacturing, commissioning, and delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Provide senior leadership in defining the strategy, structure, and expansion of the new ROSS Commissioning division.
- Recruit, develop, and guide a strong technical team that combines experienced leaders with early-career talent.
- Lead early-stage technical discussions with clients, including solution design and delivery strategy.
- Support growth by contributing technical expertise to bids, proposals, and business development activity.
- Promote innovation, new technologies, and strong practice in electrical and mechanical engineering solutions.
- Work across ROSS engineering teams to build stronger in-house capability in design, manufacture, and delivery.
- Maintain technical quality, governance, and consistency across projects and customer engagements.
Clients and partnerships
You will partner with the company’s Directors and General Manager to shape programmes, define scopes of work, and plan resources for best-practice delivery. Present and future project locations include Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America. The business already has an established client portfolio and a healthy forward pipeline.
Travel and delivery support
The role involves travel to assist with project mobilisation, client meetings, and technical troubleshooting on site. The senior commissioning team functions as a mobile leadership group, supporting new clients, resolving complex site issues, and helping develop teams from Dublin and other locations.
Team-building scope
You will help shape a balanced organisation made up of senior technical leads and subject matter experts, as well as junior engineers, apprentices, tradespeople, and graduates. ROSS also has access to strong early-career talent from trade and engineering backgrounds who are ready to develop with the business.
