This opportunity is for a senior Operations Director to join a fast-scaling distribution and logistics business in Leeds, with travel across the UK. The organisation supplies essential products to the civil engineering sector and has expanded quickly to around £50m turnover, with an ambition to reach £100m by 2030. It is investing heavily in systems, infrastructure, leadership, and operational capability.

Role purpose
As Operations Director, you will hold overall responsibility for end-to-end operations spanning warehousing, logistics, transport, and production/assembly. The role is centred on building scalable processes, improving network efficiency, and leading transformation across systems and infrastructure.
Key focus areas
- Create a robust operating model that can sustain significant business expansion.
- Lead major change programmes, including warehouse management system implementation.
- Improve the efficiency of the depot network across multiple UK sites.
- Strengthen continuous improvement practices and operational performance.
- Promote data-led decisions and greater use of technology across the function.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all operational activity across warehousing, logistics, transport, and production in three distribution centres.
- Design and execute an operational strategy that supports the company’s growth objectives.
- Deliver infrastructure and systems upgrades, including WMS and automation initiatives.
- Enhance transport planning and site performance across the multi-location network.
- Track and improve KPIs such as DIFOT, cost control, and customer satisfaction.
- Lead, coach, and develop operational teams to high performance.
- Manage strategic projects to agreed deadlines and budgets.
Requirements
- Proven senior leadership background in distribution, logistics, or supply chain.
- Track record of leading large-scale operational transformation successfully.
- Experience operating in multi-site and complex logistics environments.
- Ability to balance strategic planning with practical delivery.
- Strong interest in systems, technology, and continuous improvement.
- Comfort working in fast-moving, high-growth businesses.
