Role Overview
The Director of Operations position, based in New Orleans, LA with responsibilities across Louisiana and Texas, involves leading operational efforts for B&B Electrical, a subsidiary of United Utility Services. This role requires strategic direction to optimize project execution, resource management, and to foster a strong safety and quality culture. The role includes travel to job sites and crew locations, with a company vehicle or stipend provided.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage operational activities for the Entergy Resiliency Program across Louisiana, New Orleans, and Texas.
- Design and implement strategic initiatives to enhance operational productivity and efficiency.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure smooth project delivery from start to finish.
- Promote adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance throughout all operations.
- Identify operational risks and develop mitigation strategies to prevent project delays.
- Mentor project teams to encourage their professional advancement.
- Partner with Fleet and Safety Departments to maintain policy compliance and oversight.
- Monitor company financials including revenue, margins, and conduct monthly budget evaluations.
- Support project cost estimation for overhead and underground distribution projects.
- Assist upper management during bid evaluations when necessary.
- Collaborate with finance on budgeting and business growth plans.
Key Qualifications
- Extensive leadership experience in a power utility contract environment or investor-owned utilities, progressing through roles such as foreman, superintendent, or operations manager.
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or related fields; equivalent relevant experience may substitute.
- At least 15 years of operations management experience in the electric utility sector.
- A minimum of 5 years managing daily operations of distribution crews, focusing on leadership at General Foreman level or higher.
- Proven success managing large-scale utility projects.
- Strong knowledge of utility systems including transmission, substations, and distribution.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with various stakeholders.
- Experience driving operational improvements and excellence initiatives.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and general computer literacy.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $175,000 to $200,000 per year, subject to experience and qualifications. Benefits encompass medical, dental, and vision insurance, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts where applicable, 401(k) with matching contributions, paid time off, company holidays, and short and long-term disability coverage.
