Job description

Job Purpose

This leadership position is tasked with spearheading strategic initiatives in route planning, network optimization, and overall network strategy for an airline. The role requires comprehensive analysis of market trends, competitor activity, and industry changes to develop plans that enhance the airline's network and boost revenue generation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and execute long-range strategic plans relating to the airline's network and commercial functions.
  • Prepare revenue forecasts that inform network planning and scheduling decisions.
  • Oversee budgeting related to network planning and scheduling personnel and their activities.
  • Track financial performance versus budgets and regularly report insights to senior leadership.
  • Spot opportunities for cost reductions and propose strategies to optimize financial outcomes.
  • Analyze competitive landscape, market movements, and industry trends to pinpoint opportunities and potential risks.
  • Assess and fine-tune the airline's route network to maximize efficiency and profitability.
  • Design and maintain flight schedules, ensuring effective utilization of aircraft and crew.
  • Conduct market studies to explore potential new routes and flight slots, evaluating the practicality of expanding or trimming route offerings.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of network and commercial strategies.
  • Continuously review performance metrics and refine plans to meet organizational objectives.
  • Leverage advanced scheduling systems and optimization technologies to improve schedule reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and apply risk mitigation approaches to reduce impacts from potential operational challenges.
  • Lead strategic partnerships with Saudia and other airlines to strengthen collaborative opportunities.
  • Manage government and bilateral relations pertinent to airline operations.
  • Coordinate communication and alignment with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Aviation Management, or related disciplines is required.
  • A minimum of 12 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in senior management roles.
  • Proven expertise in airline network planning, commercial strategy, or a related sector.
  • Strong capability in analytical assessments and financial modeling.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the aviation industry, including market behaviors and regulatory frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of network planning and scheduling processes.
  • Experience in risk mitigation and managing uncertainties in operations.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking skills to align network initiatives with broader business goals.
