Job description

About Burro

Burro is a premier robotics company specializing in outdoor, field-deployed autonomous robots designed to address labor shortages in agriculture. Headquartered in Philadelphia with an additional office in central California, Burro is supported by leading investors in Agtech and autonomy. Their autonomous ground vehicles carry, tow, and scout in environments such as vineyards, nurseries, and berry farms, with a rapidly growing commercial fleet actively deployed.

Role Overview

As the Director of Marketing, you will lead the evolution of Burro's marketing from an early-stage function to a scalable, repeatable engine for generating qualified sales pipeline. Reporting directly to the Chief Revenue Officer and playing a vital role in the go-to-market team, you will blend high-level strategic planning with hands-on operational execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate current marketing strategies and develop a clear, scalable roadmap including systems, teams, and execution methods to boost the qualified sales pipeline.
  • Refine and enhance Burro’s brand positioning and messaging tailored for technical audiences including growers, agricultural and industrial operations leaders, and dealers.
  • Drive demand generation by broadening and professionalizing marketing campaigns via digital channels, field and trade shows, content creation, and partnerships.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sales team to align marketing initiatives with revenue and pipeline objectives.
  • Improve marketing technology infrastructure, reporting, and attribution models to effectively measure campaign success.
  • Manage relationships with external agencies, freelancers, and an expanding internal marketing team as the function scales.
  • Represent Burro at industry events and engage with growers to convert firsthand customer insights into compelling marketing narratives.
  • Balance long-term brand and category strategies with the practical, tactical work required in a startup environment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of marketing experience, specifically with a history of scaling marketing in early-stage or rapidly growing companies.
  • Demonstrated ability to both design strategic roadmaps and execute marketing campaigns or events hands-on.
  • Experience managing demand generation and brand building within complex B2B, technical, industrial, or agricultural markets.
  • Adaptable to operating under resource constraints and ambiguity with a preference for shipping and iterating over perfection.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills capable of translating technical robotics and autonomy concepts for broader audiences.
  • Willingness to spend time in the field with growers and operations to gain direct product and customer insights.
  • Strong enthusiasm for agriculture, robotics, and Burro's mission.
  • Proficiency with tools such as HubSpot.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in early-stage startups or thriving in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Background combining in-house brand/growth leadership with agency experience.
  • Marketing robotics, autonomous systems, agtech, heavy machinery, or industrial products.
  • Developing co-marketing initiatives and enablement tools for dealer and distributor networks.
  • Hands-on experience with the modern B2B marketing technology stack including HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, and digital advertising platforms.
  • Utilizing customer case studies, field stories, and earned media/PR efforts to establish category authority.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401K retirement plan.
  • Equity participation in an early-stage company.
  • Unlimited paid time off.
  • Paid parental leave.
