Director of Learning and Development

About the Role

We seek a visionary leader to head the Learning & Development division of a prominent national law firm based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This pivotal role involves crafting and executing innovative training initiatives tailored to empower attorneys and professional staff. The incumbent will foster a culture of continuous learning, technological proficiency, and exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct the Learning & Development department and its training personnel, ensuring alignment with firm goals.
• Develop and implement comprehensive onboarding programs for new hires as well as ongoing learning opportunities for established employees.
• Design, update, and curate training content, including curricula, instructional guides, video tutorials, and eLearning modules.
• Deliver technology-focused training and provide personalized coaching sessions for attorneys and staff.
• Collaborate closely with IT and business leadership to facilitate the deployment of new technologies and support change management processes.
• Customize training programs for diverse departments and legal practice groups to meet specific needs.
• Manage training logistics such as schedules, documentation, attendance tracking, and collecting feedback to assess program impact.
• Evaluate training outcomes regularly and refine programs to maximize effectiveness and learner engagement.
• Occasionally visit other office branches to conduct training sessions and provide onsite support.

Qualifications

• Proven background in Learning & Development, training administration, organizational development, or similar fields.
• Leadership experience managing teams and enterprise-wide learning initiatives.
• Expertise in instructional design, curriculum building, and principles of adult education.
• Proficiency in delivering training through a variety of formats, including classroom, virtual environments, webinars, eLearning platforms, and individualized coaching.
• Experience promoting adoption of new technologies alongside managing organizational change.
• Outstanding communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Preferred Experience

• Background within law firms, legal technology sectors, or professional services contexts.
• Specifically skilled in training legal professionals and associated staff members.
• A working knowledge of legal technology tools such as iManage, NetDocuments, Microsoft 365, LMS systems, and document management platforms.
• Experience facilitating training across multiple offices and supporting enterprise software implementations.
